SVBA is a non-profit association whose primary goal is to provide high-quality legal education programs, with local emphasis and reasonable costs. Our members practice primarily in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust law. Our members include lawyers, paralegals, CPAs and other professionals with an interest in these areas of the law, such as professional trustees.
One way we keep our costs down is by providing sponsorships for our programs. The sponsorships also enable us to offer complimentary or low-cost attendance to our local court staff. Cost of sponsorship is $750 for standard programs and $2,000 to secure sole sponsorship of premium programs. We have only three premium annual programs – the View from the IRS, usually held in November, our Annual Legislative Update, held in December, and our View From the Bench, usually held in March. The benefits of sponsorship are numerous. The sponsoring organization’s name and contact information is included on all advertisements and all written materials associated with that program. The organization can provide its own written materials that will be distributed to attendees. In addition, a representative from the organization is invited to introduce him or herself at the beginning of the program and spend a few minutes describing the services the organization provides. Finally, the representative and a guest are invited to attend the program and, if it is a program that includes a meal, join members of SVBA’s Board of Directors or Executive Committee for the meal. We offer at least one program each month. The programs, usually presented in the Santa Clara/San Jose area, are either a 1-hour lunch or a 2-3 hour evening presentation. Attendance varies, but we typically have 35-55 attendees for standard programs. Premium programs can expect 150-300 attendees.
